The Nursing & Midwifery Council of Nigeria (N&MCN) Released Results For The 2023 Professional Examinations (General and Post Basic Nursing) A Day After The Examinations—The Fastest In History!
There has been significant improvement since the ‘digitalisation’ of the examination process in the Council—a development championed by the present secretary-general/registrar, Faruk Umar Abubakar (PhD).
Last year, I wrote about the digitalisation of the examination process. I lauded it as an important step towards digitalising healthcare in Nigeria and Africa.
We may be slow and behind other nations regarding the digitalisation of healthcare; however, we are definitely making significant progress and must celebrate our small wins.
In the future, we hope to see more improvements in the professional services offered by the Apex Nursing Regulatory Body in the country. There’s still a lot of ground to cover as far as innovation is concerned.
The Council is a significant force that can drive the nursing profession and healthcare ecosystem in general in Nigeria into the next phase of digital growth and expansion.
It’s a well-established fact that the most effective method to drive transformation in any healthcare system is to prioritise the role of nurses in any transformational strategy. And in healthcare, the most significant wave of transformation we are currently experiencing as an ecosystem is digital. Nurses must be placed at the forefront of our strategies if we want to achieve any significant impact.
This feat requires bold and visionary leadership. The current registrar has demonstrated such leadership, as revealed in the numerous innovative reforms and transformations in The Council so far.
We congratulate all the nurses who have just been qualified and wish them success in their future endeavours as healthcare professionals.
In the coming weeks, we will publish a couple of articles to help new nurses navigate the new world in which they have found themselves.
