On Monday, 23rd December 2024, we organised our maiden medical and welfare outreach program, providing vital support to hundreds of needy residents.

Social outreaches and community engagements are a very big part of our vision as a growing healthcare media brand in Africa.

The outreach was themed “Hold My Hands,” a timely reminder that support is possible during these exhilarating times.

The medical and welfare outreach expresses our deep interest in community building and engagement.

Residents benefited from an array of free medical services, welfare support, and educational initiatives tailored to meet the community’s unique needs.

The initiative also brought together healthcare professionals, volunteers, welfare and security officers who worked tirelessly to ensure its success.

Highlights Of The Basic Medical Services Provided

One of the standout features of the outreach was the provision of free medical consultations and treatments.

It was heart-touching to see how many people on chronic medications were finally delighted to get a supply.

Most participants appeared more interested in drugs than the welfare packages. Residents had access to highly skilled healthcare professionals and specialists who conducted thorough medical assessments.

Some key services provided included:

General Health Screenings: We conducted routine checks for blood pressure, blood glucose levels, and other important health indicators.

Maternal And Child Care Education: Pregnant women and children received basic prenatal care, nutritional advice, and weight assessment for young children.

Basic Medication Support: Based on the results of the health checks and presenting complaints, free essential medications were distributed.

Welfare Support

In addition to medical services, the community outreach featured welfare initiatives to help support the residents in the spirit of the Yuletide.

Residents received food packs and hygiene kits, addressing their immediate needs and supporting their welfare.

Impact Assessment: A Ripple Effect Of Positivity

The outreach, which started at 10 a.m. and ended by 3 p.m., left an indelible mark on the residents of Ojuelegba. We positively impacted over two hundred individuals.

Some Key Outcomes Noted

Improved health outcomes: Early detection of conditions like hypertension and diabetes helped initiate timely interventions, potentially saving lives as beneficiaries were educated to seek further medical attention.

Out of a hundred and seventy-six people who benefited from the medical outreach, 81, about 48% had significantly high blood pressure readings, while 10% appeared diabetic.

All of these include those with PUD (peptic ulcer disease), acute illnesses like malaria, etc., benefited from our basic medication supplies.

Health Education: The health advice offered by our medical experts equipped attendees with the knowledge needed to live healthier by making better health choices.

Strengthened Community Bonds: The event further fostered unity and cooperation among residents, reinforcing the importance of collective action.

The Vision Behind The Initiative

Care City Media has consistently demonstrated its dedication to societal well-being.

We have continually leveraged our expertise in health education and advocacy, seeking to address disparities in healthcare access and promote sustainable development in Africa.

This outreach program is part of a broader strategy to extend our impact beyond publishing, ensuring that our mission of empowering lives is realised at every level.

Looking Ahead: Sustaining The Momentum

The success of the Ojuelegba outreach program has set the stage for similar initiatives in other underserved areas.

Plans are already underway to expand the program’s scope, incorporate more specialised services, and reach a wider audience.

We look forward to building on the lessons learned and feedback received to create an enduring legacy of positive change across Nigeria and beyond.

We would also appreciate all the support and collaboration we can get to make future events more impactful.
