Raphael Akangbe

Digital Health/Health Informatics, EMRs/EHRs Consultant and Lecturer

On the surface, Dr. Raphael Akangbe is an accomplished Digital Health/Health Informatics, EMRs/EHRs consultant and lecturer with over 18 years of experience both in the healthcare system and higher institutions of learning (locally and internationally). 

He’s so efficient at his job that he considers himself a “digital health portfolio whisperer.” Raphael can take unhealthy portfolios and transform them into healthy and thriving ones. Because of his skills, Raphael can make productive and long-lasting results for high-level clients. 

He caters to major companies, non-profit organizations, and hospitals. He works well with senior corporate executives and can provide consultations for international corporations. 

More than his role as a Digital Health Analyst, he is also effective at persuading and influencing high-ranking individuals. His opinions are highly valued, people trust and respect his judgments. 

Raphael earned a Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, MSc. In Health Informatics and Information Management 2013, DBA and Ph.D. in Health Information Management and Health Management Information System respectively, in 2016. He just recently completed his Diploma in Data Analytics at Covenant University. Through this course, he developed a passionate interest in Digital Health. 

In particular, he focused on topics like EMRs/EHRs, and Telehealth/Telemedicine. After he graduated, Raphael worked hard to attain his role as a Digital Health Expert for 12 years. He’s presently an Assistant Director, working with Lagos State Ministry of Health, Nigeria.

He is presently working at Lagos State Ministry of Health as Data Protection Officer, E-Health Unit. Raphael also contributed to the development of data protection training workshops and implementation, in all directorates at the ministry of health, and State Secondary Health Facilities. 

Raphael is a Treasurer and a board member at Society for Telemedicine and e-Health in Nigeria (SfTeHiN). A Non-governmental and not-for-profit society. It serves primarily to support telemedicine and e-health in Nigeria. He is also a member of the Nigeria Computer Society.

For his most recent year as a Digital Health Expert, Raphael had successfully nourished his insatiable passion. He did this by researching how digital health affects the proper management of COVID-19. 

He wants to engage more with influential decision-makers and thoughtful leaders in international public policy. He’s open to challenges, conversations, and an exchange of ideas from the top players in the health care and digital health industry. 

His long-term goal is to become a national-level digital health/health information policy adviser. He wants to use his untiring commitment and drive to bring more dignity and autonomy to the citizens of developing countries. 

Raphael had a lot of significant professional experiences as a Digital Health expert. He created tools to help the healthcare system to evaluate operational requirements more accurately and improve the patient’s data security. 


Funmi Adewara

Founder/CEO Mobihealth International 

Dr. Funmi Adewara is a multi-award-winning UK-based Nigerian-British Physician. She is a Cambridge-trained Bioscience Entrepreneur with a multi-disciplinary background in Clinical Medicine, Pharmaceutical, and Business Development across the healthcare and energy sectors. 

For over fifteen years Funmi worked mainly within the NHS UK, with a stint in the Pharmaceutical Industry as a Drug Safety Physician. Funmi is driven with a passion to change the poor narrative of Africa’s healthcare landscape through leveraging information technology. This has brought both her and Mobihealth much international acclaim, thus attracting multiple awards globally. 

At the 2020 United Nations General Assembly, Funmi was honored with the World Bank’s Sustainable Development Goals, SDG3 & Her Global Award 2020. She was also one of the 7 global winners picked amongst 2,400 contestants worldwide. This coveted award, a first for Nigeria since its formation, earned Funmi a congratulatory message from Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR at the celebration of Nigeria at 60, in October 2020. 

Mobihealth was also a proud finalist at the recent CISCO Global Problem Solver Awards 2021.

Funmi has been recognized as one of the Most Influential People of African descent. 

She is a member of the American Telemedicine Association, British Medical Association, UK, and the prestigious Pitch@Palace Alumni network. Funmi is an External reviewer with the African Development Institute Global Community of Practice G-CoP, under the Africa Development Bank contributing to policy formulation at the regional level. 

She was a panelist at a recent seminar on “Building Resilient Health Systems; Policies for Inclusive Health in Post-COVID-19 Africa’’. Dr. Adewara also featured in the AFDB’s Annual meetings 2021 along with other global thought leaders including AfDB’s President, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, CDC Director, Dr. John N. Adewumi Oluwatobi

Co-founder Carecode Digital Health Hub

He is an award-winning Nigerian Registered Nurse and a licensed Perioperative nurse.

He is a co-founder and the chief operating officer of Cacrecode, a Digital Health startup in Nigeria with the vision of training and educating healthcare professionals on digital skills needed to function effectively in a rapidly evolving digital world. 

The startup also aims at developing innovative solutions to address rising challenges in the areas of clinical practices and healthcare delivery in Africa.  

As an ardent advocate of personal and professional development, he currently hosts a bi-monthly virtual class (Sideclass) where he shares personal and career development tips with students and registered nurses, also facilitating a culture of self-inspired capacity development amidst them.

He has been featured as a guest speaker and panelist on a number of events speaking on topics in areas majorly Digital Health, professional and personal development.

The award-winning nurse is an IBM certified Data Scientist, Front-end website developer, and visual communication expert with an interest in Global Health Management, Human Capacity Development, and Perioperative Medicine. He is also a member of the international society for telemedicine and ehealth.

He currently works as an operating room nurse in one of the states of art healthcare facilities in Nigeria, at the same time as the chief operating officer of Carecode Digital Health Hub.


Dr Simpa Dania

Chief Happiness Officer at HealthStack Solutions Ltd

Dr. Simpa Dania is a digital health consultant and thought leader. 

He is currently the Chief happiness Officer at HealthStack Solutions Ltd, Africa’s foremost Digital Health Platform as a Service (DHPaaS) provider (www.healthstack.africa). 

He was the architect and coordinated the development of APMIS: ALL Purpose Medical Information System (www.apmis.ng), which is an innovative connected healthcare platform for developing country setting currently, designed to be patient-centric and foster enable easy data exchange between healthcare stakeholders. 

Dr. Simpa Dania has worked as a World Bank/IFC consultant to the Federal Ministry of Health Nigeria on the ICT for Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF) project. 

He coordinated the development of the ICT infrastructure and requirement framework for the BHCPF.

Dr. Simpa Dania played a leading role as a consultant in the development of the user requirement and design of the Lagos State Health Insurance Schemes ICT platform.

Dr. Simpa Dania has consulted for various international organizations including the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Pharmaccess Nigeria, Carepay International among others. 

He is passionate about the transformation of Africa’s healthcare narrative using technology and public-private partnership.

He loves to be referred to as “son of God”! He is happily married to his sweetheart and stately wife Dr. Oluyinka Dania and is blessed with three wonderful children, Emmanuel, Opemipo, and Oiza. A previous national junior chess player, he is still planning his next move, looking for a brilliant sacrifice that ends in a mate.


Olutola Vivian Awosiku

Co-founder Diatron Health

Olutola Vivian Awosiku is a Biomedical Laboratory Science graduate student with an interest 

in Biomedical Informatics and Digital Health. She is interested in leveraging the capabilities 

of tech in building data-driven innovations in the healthcare and business sector. 

Olutola is the co-founder of Diatron Health, a digital solution that helps people living with NCDs. 

Olutola has a penchant for building sustainable innovative solutions for social impact within 

the health tech and STEM Education space which can be seen in her participation in several 

innovative hackathons such as Inspire Africa Ignite Innovation Lab Challenge (2nd Prize 

Winner), AfriHack Challenge 2020(Best Healthcare Solution), MIT Hacking Racism 

Challenge 2020 (Winner), and DigiEdu Hack 2020 Regionals (Winner, Rethinking STEM 

Education in Nigeria). 

She is the winner of the Africa Healthcare Awards 2021, Rising Star Category.


Ayinla Daniel

Founder/CEO of Care City & Carecode

Ayinla Daniel is the founder and CEO of Care City and Carecode. 

He has his roots in writing and editing, web development/design, healthcare branding, and publications technology.

He also has strong interests in artificial intelligence, machine learning, Web3, and data science [how these super-techs can help improve healthcare in Africa].

He’s a practicing Cardiothoracic Critical Care Nurse in one of Africa’s state-of-the-art healthcare institutions in West Africa. 

A dedicated writer who has had his works featured on various national and international communities/platforms. He is also the ‘editorial officer’ of the Institute of Nursing Research, Nigeria, and the Editor-in-Chief of Focusing on Young Nurses Initiative, a mentorship vision founded by Professor Prisca Adejumo.

He is also a member of the International Society For e-health and telemedicine. 

His deep passion for innovation, leadership, and entrepreneurism and his belief in the potential of Africa’s healthcare industry spurred him into starting Care City, a healthcare media and publications company focused on healthcare innovation, healthcare leadership, healthcare technology, and digital health. 

He was among the judges for Data Scientists Network [formerly Data Science Nigeria] & AI Commons 2020 digital health hackathon where numerous young players in the field of digital health in Nigeria came together in a challenge to develop AI solutions for various healthcare problems in the healthcare industry in Nigeria and Africa.
