Welcome to June.

One of my favourite months.

And welcome to another Monday.

One of my favourite days.

This post was initially intended for last Monday, but we were unable to publish it.😑🥲

Any reasons?

Well. Maybe we got a teeny, bitty lazy!

And there are just a hundred things to attend to when you’re nurturing a small publication like ours. Sometimes you get overwhelmed, tired and miss some things.

Let’s get started with today’s discussion. Fast!

The ‘Start’ Is Very Important

How are you starting your week?

Though my weeks usually start on Sunday. Yours should, too.

How your Mondays go should be a direct result of your planning and thinking over the weekend.

Especially Sunday.

So, how does your Monday start?

Monday, 6:47 a.m. or 5 a.m. Or Whenever You Wake Up!

You are awake and ready to move, and the next thing is checking emails or jumping into meetings and sticking to your to-do lists?

No.

Don’t do that.

Instead, start with something very simple—planning your day and week by arranging your thoughts through journaling (you should have done this on Sunday or over the weekend, though. So when Monday comes, you just rehearse or make adjustments or any additions).

Simple.

Ask the right questions:

  • What must I focus on this week?
  • Who needs me at my best?
  • What will I let go of?

What you’re doing is knowing where your energy must be used the most and channelling most of it towards that direction.

You are busy.

Especially if you’re in healthcare, whether it’s clinical, research, education, or any other area. And to ensure you stay super productive, you must know how to channel your energy towards the right places.

Mondays are used to set the tone for the week.

Don’t jump or rush into them.

Next week, we’ll discuss practical ways to set the tone for the week. I will also share some of the techniques I use to maintain productivity.

We’ll also start a new Monday series on productivity for healthcare professionals—we’re being specific this time around.

Don’t miss out.

Start Your Week With The Right Mindset

How Serious Leaders Start Their Week

How Serious Leaders Think

I have discovered that leadership starts from the mind. All our leadership courses, bootcamps, workshops, events, and training are fundamentally designed to change the way we think.

From how we look at others and how much we understand that we are supposed to add value to every relationship, system and place we find ourselves.

Great leaders are just people who have been able to upgrade their mindset.

They think differently from most people.

Their mindset can accommodate big dreams and visions. A weak mindset can never accommodate great visions because it will never believe it can achieve them. When you already believe you can’t, what happens is that your potential stays hidden and locked behind a prison you have created for yourself.

Serious leaders always think about possibilities. They never harbour backward thoughts or negativity. They always have this “I Can” or “It Is Possible” way of living life. I know you can also testify to this, especially those of us who have interacted with serious leaders.

As I began to lead more, I also discovered that I was always presented with two options: believe I can or believe I can’t.

There were times I began to think “I can’t”. But when I sat down to think thoroughly, I quickly had to change my mindset.

Why am I discussing mindset with you? Simple. It’s the most essential ingredient of great leadership.

So, as you start your week, recalibrate your mindset if it’s faulty.

If you already start with a defeated mindset, your week is likely to be full of defeats.

Approach your week with the mindset of “I can”, and “it’s possible” and watch how ideas begin to well up from within your heart.

So, take these three things away today.

  • Start with journaling: clearly articulate what you want to do on paper. Write it down. Be specific and detailed.
  • Focus your energy on the most productive things and people. Your journaling helps you identify the most important aspects you need to focus on.
  • Recalibrate your mindset: A faulty mindset will approach the week with a weak grip. Strengthen your mindset by believing you can.

In the following Mondays, I will be writing more about practical productivity hacks and tips for serious leaders.

Catch you soon, and have a wonderful week ahead.

Sorry, this came this late.

I was caught up in a lot of things🥲.
