  • Founded in 2000, World Heart Day is an initiative of the World Heart Federation. It is the world’s biggest platform for raising awareness about CVD, including heart disease and stroke.
  • On and around 29 September, 1000s of activities and events will be organized around the world to spread the word about how we can combat premature mortality caused by CVD, the world’s number one killer.
  • In 2019, we are asking people all around the world to be Heart Heroes by making a heart promise to someone they love or care about. A promise to eat more healthily, to get more active, to say no to smoking. A simple promise … for my heart, for your heart, for all our hearts.

The World Heart Day has been an event that has been able to spread the message of “heart health,” to different people of different cultures all over the world and it continues to do so.
A campaign that integrates health education, outreach and awareness as the primary tool in reaching out to people around the globe, has become as reported the largest single campaign about heart diseases in the world.

This year’s World Heart Days message is simply a promise we all must make to our loved ones to live heart-healthy lives, which will include eating healthy, getting more exercise and avoiding smoking. Make this promise to a friend or loved one today, together we can make hearts healthier.
